Certifications

Third-party certifications are the truthsayers of the eco movement. They separate the claims from reality, rinse away the greenwashing, and protect the public in a world awash with chemicals and challenged by an excess of water and energy consumption. Nüwa Textiles currently uses three of these outside agencies to provide clarity of purpose.

ISO 14001

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) developed the ISO 14001 standards to provide an internationally recognized framework for environmental management, measurement, evaluation, and auditing. They serve as guidelines for companies interested in reducing their environmental impact.

Oeko-Tex® 100

Oeko-Tex 100 evaluates and screens for any harmful substances present within processed textiles that can come into harmful contact with consumers. It screens for hazardous levels of thousands of chemicals that scientific methods have shown are dangerous.

bluesign®

The independent bluesign standard guarantees that the entire production chain only contains components and passes through processes that are harmless to people and the environment. It uses what is called "Input Stream Management" that views production as a series of steps that needs to be individually certified and monitored. All manufacturing processes and chemistry must meet the bluesign standard for a finished product to bear the label bluesign.
Nüwa Textiles currently produces textiles in Taiwan with bluesign certification. A new plant in Jiaxing, China is now undergoing the certification process and will be the first in that country to accomplish that distinction.
